On February 24, 2013, the biggest and brightest stars gathered for a night of bulky gowns, celeb slips, randon song and dance numbers and, bad jokes, courtesy of this year's host Seth MacFarlane. But it was also a year that made history...twice! Not only was 9-year-old Quvenzhane Wallis nomiated for Best Actress for her role in Beasts of the Southern Wild (the youngest female ever to be nominated in the catetory), but also Daniel Day-Lewis collected his third Academy Award for Best Actor, this time for his role in Lincoln.

But we can't push on without mentioning Jennifer Lawrence's tragic fall while climbing the steps to receive her award for Best Actress. It wasn't a complete wipe out, but big enough to earn her a standing ovation from the audience. Hopefully her slip won't detract from her achievement. But next time, maybe she'll think again before wearing such a poofy dress.
