History of International Friendship Day 2o4j4e

The tradition of dedicating a day in honor of friends began in the United States way back in 1935. As the years rolled on, the festival became more and more popular. Today, International Friendship Day is celebrated in tons of different countries around the world, from India to Paraguay. On this day, people spend time with their friends and express their appreciation for them. Sometimes they even exchange Friendship Day gifts – stuff like flowers, cards and wrist bands.

Between 1935 and 1997, International Friendship Day didn’t have any sort of special character or figure – think someone like Winnie the Pooh as the world’s Ambassador of Friendship. Seems like they picked the right bear for the job!
